End of the world, and I feel fine.

Today is one of the Afghani Independence Day from the British.
Tomorrow is the second Democratic Election to be held in this country since the war started.

To say things have gotten intense is an understatement.

Yet amongst it all, there is celebration. Yesterday during lunch there was a traditional band (sitars and all) playing outside at the dining facility. Local national workers were full of smiles, good cheer and dancing. Clapping their hands while men danced. Arms extended, legs raised as they clicked their heels into the ground upon each beat. Like dervishes they circled about for the onlookers. Foreigners. Some looked on with indifference, but I cracked a smile. To be able to stand and have music, have a smile on your face, and to dance takes something. It takes more than cruelty and violence can overcome. It's hope.
